The number of Marketplace ads just went from 253 to 565!
Today, Marketplace more than doubles the number of safer alternatives presented on the platform.
The dramatic increase of advertisements will make safer chemical alternatives more visible to companies looking to substitute hazardous chemicals in their products or processes.
“This means that Marketplace users will have more alternatives to choose from and get a more complete picture of safer alternatives available on the market”, says Dr. Jonatan Kleimark, Marketplace Project Manager at ChemSec.
Ever since the conception of Marketplace, ChemSec – the organisation behind the online platform – has had an extensive list of safer alternatives that has kept on growing over the years.
Many have been published on Marketplace, but many have also remained on the list unpublished. ChemSec has tried to convince the companies to advertise these safer solutions on the platform but, for some reason or another, things have not panned out.
“The ultimate goal of Marketplace is to increase the visibility of safer alternatives”
However, since the ultimate goal of Marketplace is to increase the visibility of safer alternatives and connect buyers and suppliers, ChemSec has decided to publish these alternatives on Marketplace alongside the regular ones.
“After cross-checking the alternatives to make sure they fulfil our criteria for safer alternatives, we created ads for them based on public information that is readily available to anyone”, says Dr. Kleimark.
What separates the new alternatives from the regular ones on Marketplace is that there is no personal contact information included in the advertisement. Users are instead directed to the company or product website.
The regular Marketplace advertisements have been redefined as Evaluated safer alternatives to separate the two.
The newly added alternatives can, however, easily be “upgraded” to evaluated alternatives by providing some additional information.
