Evaluated Alternative Proton Exchange Membranes and Polymers replacing fluorinated polymers (PFCs) Ionomr has developed an ion-conductive membrane with the broadest chemical and mechanical stability available. The membranes are made from hydrocarbon polymers without any PFCs added. The most widely-used membranes today are perfluorinated and these are non-recyclable and generates bio-accumulative toxic waste. The hydrocarbon-based materials include Pemion™, a high-performance proton-exchange membrane (PEM) product suitable for the next generation of PEM-based hydrogen fuel-cells on the market.
