KJCMPA-100®, an innovative solvent as NMP and DMF replacement
KJ Chemicals Corporation of Tokyo launched the amid-ether type solvent KJCMPA-100 which can replace NMP and DMF for the solven market globally. Normal Methyl Pyrrolidone (NMP) and Dimethyl Formamide (DMF) are listed on the restricted substances list of REACH, due to concerns about their reproductive toxycity, anf their use and handling is currently restricted in Europe. KJCMPA-100 is a valid alternative to these solvents, thanks to its very high solubility efficency. Several studies has been conducted on KJCMPA-100, including prenatal toxicity, showing that it does not have reproductivity or teratogenic toxicity. KJCMPA-100 is REACH and TASCA registered, as well is registered in Japan, Korea and Taiwan.
KJ Chemicals is represented for Europe by AlephChem
KJCMPA-100 is an highly soluble amid-ether solvent type, highly amphiphatic, that can be mixed completely in water and oil at any rate. Its Hansen solubility parameters are very close to the ones of NMP and DMF. KJCMPA-100 it is supposed to be used as synthesis solvent for PAI, PI, Nylon and particularly Polyurethanes, for the viscosity adjusting in inkjet inks, for the improving of the stability of water based paints, and in manufactruing processes for agrochemiclas and pharmaceuticals. KJCMPA-100 contact angle is low and its wettabilty on PC substrates is almost the double of the one of NMP, so it can be expected to improve printability of inkjet inks on PC and PVC substrates.
