Bio-based cleaning solvents

Xf technologies is creating chemicals to be non-toxic, renewable and sustainable alternatives to some of the most notorious chemicals used today. They are producing a family of cleaning solvents called furatoes or simply 408s and two of them are Methyl 408 and Ethyl 408. 408s command solubility parameters and other chemical and physical properties that make for excellent cleaning solvents, extraction solvents, coalesces, diluents, compatibilizers, compounding agents and lubricants.

408s provide similar or superior performance to the ingredients they intend to replace. In some cases, 408s can replace multiple ingredients in a formulation leading to significant costs savings. In other applications cost savings is a result of the total cost of ownership of the final product due to its improved environmental health and safety (EHS) rating.  

All our products are made from biomass-derived sugars and alcohols using a unique type of catalysis called N-Heterocyclic Carbene (NHC). Our patented technology covers both biomass processing and NHC catalysis on an industrial scale, allowing us to keep costs at a competitive level.

Methyl 408 and Ethyl 408 are excellent substitutes for other common solvents such as n-propyl bromide, cyclohexanone, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl acetate, acetone, tetrachloretylene, PCE och methytlene chloride and NMP.
